“Upscale Market Merchant Roots Unveils Fine Dining Dinner Parties”

Since it opened last year, Merchant Roots has billed itself as both an artisanal food market and a fine dining restaurant — the latter portion has taken a while to come to fruition, but it’s finally here. The Table at Merchant Roots is now taking reservations for its artistic dinner parties in the Fillmore.

“Modern Nostalgia At Merchant Roots Grocer”

Ever wish you could skip the chain super market and just buy all your groceries the day you plan to cook with them from a local grocer? Ever wish fine dining felt a little more focused on quality food and a little less on all that other stuff? Well, Merchant Roots is meant to fill exactly that void.

“Merchant Roots’ Daytime Grocer and Imaginative Nighttime Tasting Menu Table Arrives on Fillmore”

With all kinds of homemade foods from preserves to pastas to focaccia offered in the daytime and a Table full of constantly changing creative themes in the evening, Merchant Roots is a tiny space with grand ideas, now open in the Fillmore.

“San Francisco’s First Craft Grocer/Fine Dining Combo Arrives With Fillmore's Merchant Roots”

By day, the quaint new shop on lower Fillmore Street tempts customers with the kind of freshly made fare San Francisco foodies drool over: House made pastries, sandwiches, salads, fresh pasta, cheese, charcuterie, and more. The shelves inside are lined with eye-catching gourmet pantry items like specialty salts, jam, chocolate, and a jaw-dropping selection of wine. But this sweet shop know has an alter ego yet to be unveiled: A fine dining restaurant that comes alive three nights per week, featuring a themed tasting menu that rotates every four to six weeks.
